To be a citizen in the new world you will have to participate – because “goverment is what we do together” in a democracy.

McGonigal is famous for her ideas about harnessing the skills and powers of the gamers of the world to make it a better place (Reality is Broken) But back in 2009 she had a concussion – and the treatment is basically: Do nothing, have no entertainment. No wonder the suicide rates for concussed people are 3x average. McGonigal felt her choice was to either kill herself, or turn it into a game – and so many people used the idea to improve their live quality. She’s now made it more easily adaptable in cooperation with university researchers. It’s all about building up resilience: physical, social, mental and emotional!

This Ph.D has an interesting idea. Why just like things on the internet, why not use the same game-like mechanics to learn things. Maria Andersen’s idea: Let’s put a “Learn This”-button on the web. The internet is rotting your brain?
Just finished Nicholas Carr’s The Shallows… The first 50 pages almost made me quit reading it. And I highly suspect he wrote them that way on purpose (in the style of Eco’s The Name Of The Rose) to underline his point about our diminished reading skills. Since the internet is changing our brains, our reading, thinking & remembering.

I found a different solution.
